Sage was formed in 1981 and employs 14,800 people worldwide with around 2000 of these in the UK, they have around 5.7 million customers. Sage’s headquarters are still based in Newcastle in North East England.

In addition to Sage 50 Accounts, they have numerous other software packages available for all aspects of running a business. From Payroll and Forecasting software for small start-up companies, right through to download Sage accounting software 100, 200, 300, and 500 for much larger businesses. They also provide software that integrates with Sage 50 and 200 for specific industries, these include construction, manufacturing, and retail. In time we may start to add pages about some of the other products available, but for now, it’s all about the three products Sage 50 Accounts, Plus, and Professional.

The entry-level product to the range, most companies either start with this one or sometimes upgrade from Sage Instant Accounts.
- Sage 50 Accounts Plus
Has more features than Accounts the main difference being the addition of Project Costing and Stock Allocation, but still only available for 2 users.
- Sage 50 Accounts Professional
For businesses who need a maximum of 10 users on the software at the same time. This version includes Purchase Order Processing, Sales Order Processing, and Foreign Trader functionality.
